Our Current Projects:
Bake sales
On September 17th 2010, the Poolesville Interact Club sponsored a bake sale during study hall. A variety of baked goods were sold to a variety of students and teachers and proceeds totaled to about 57$. All proceeds will be donated to a country in need.
International Night
Poolesville Interact club is again planning to host an International Night to promote inter-cultural appreciation and understanding.
The Girl Effect
Starting last year,
Poolesville High Schools’ Interact Club has been supporting The Girl Effect, a
non-profit organization that believes in the concept of “Growth through
learning”. This concept maintains that even one girl is of great importance,
the effects of teaching her will create a ripple effect; starting with the
single girl’s growth from learning and building herself, to her community, to
cities, and eventually improving the world. With many girls combined, together,
they can make the world a better place, but only if we help these girls. This
group, founded by the late Roger Whiting, has been steadily growing and
succeeding and has sponsored many of the top universities in Egypt and South
Africa. Whiting himself often inspired others to reach out beyond themselves
and to selflessly bring hope to the poor and unfortunate. The idea of our
Interact Club is to have charity and to help people around the world live
better lives. By earning money through fundraisers such as bake sales, we can
save money to help this organization, as every dollar counts.
